Privacy Policy

Your game taste belongs to you.

Next Quest is operated by Ryan Weglarz, an individual. The current preview is offered to United States residents. This policy explains what Next Quest handles when you use playnextquest.com, why it is needed, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information: your email address, display name, password hash, email-verification status, session records, and account security events. For new registrations, we also record the accepted policy version, acceptance time and eligibility acknowledgement, including the US-residency confirmation for registrations under the US preview terms. This is not a record of your date of birth. Next Quest does not store your readable password.

Game and preference information: library status, favorites, play history, watch reactions, recommendation choices, settings, and other activity you intentionally save.

Profiles and messages: You may choose a unique username, an optional display or real name, a bio and an avatar color. Profiles are visible to signed-in members. Library, wishlist, favorites and recorded activity are private by default; separate switches let you share them with members. Disabling a switch hides that section on future requests but cannot remove copies others have saved. Direct messages require both players to enable messaging. We store message content, sender and recipient identifiers, timestamps, read status, blocks and reports. The messaging interface limits conversations to their participants. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Reporting a received message gives the site owner access to that message and the report reason for moderation; it does not give access to the rest of the conversation. Deleting an account removes its messages from both participants’ conversations.

Community posts and comments: posts and replies you publish on Feed, their attached games and spoiler labels, and comments you post on Watch are visible to other signed-in players with your display name. We store your likes and show total like counts. Your private library activity is not automatically posted. It appears on your profile only in sections you choose to share. You can delete your own posts and replies or remove a like; deleting a Feed post also deletes its replies. The site owner can remove posts and replies for moderation.

Connected or imported library information: if you choose to connect Steam or import Xbox data, Next Quest may store platform identifiers, public profile details, game titles, ownership or access information, available playtime, achievement progress, Gamerscore, and achievement details you choose to open.

Support and reports: if you email us a report or privacy request, we receive your email address, the message and any information you choose to include. We use it to investigate, respond and keep an appropriate record of the outcome. Do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.

Purchase-link activity: when you choose a store offer, Next Quest records the game, retailer, offer, commission status, and time of the click. It does not receive your payment-card information from the retailer.

Technical information: necessary session cookies, local browser storage, request timestamps, and limited security or rate-limit signals used to operate and protect the service.

How we use information

Commission status does not influence recommendation ranking.

When information is shared

Next Quest uses service providers for hosting, database operations, and account email. Information is shared with them only as needed to perform those services. Connected platforms receive the requests needed to complete a connection you initiate. For Xbox playtime and achievement details, Next Quest sends your Xbox user identifier and the relevant Xbox title identifiers to OpenXBL; it does not send your Microsoft password or Microsoft access token. When you open an achievement list, its artwork may load from Xbox's official image service.

Watch pages may load privacy-enhanced YouTube video players. Feed posts with YouTube links may load a thumbnail from YouTube. Catalog information may come from game-data providers such as IGDB. When you follow a store link, the retailer receives your request and applies its own privacy policy.

Next Quest does not sell or rent personal information. Your private library and taste profile are not sent to catalog providers or retailers.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

Cookies and local storage

Next Quest uses necessary cookies to remember preview access and signed-in account sessions. Browser local storage keeps interface settings and may preserve game-library activity so the product remains usable and can sync with your account. Next Quest does not place advertising-network trackers in its own application code. Embedded videos and remotely hosted images connect to their providers, which receive technical information such as your IP address. A privacy-enhanced video player does not mean no information is sent to the provider.

Retention, security, and your choices

Information is kept for as long as needed to provide the service, secure accounts, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Expired sessions and account-email tokens are removed or invalidated through normal service maintenance.

Next Quest uses access controls, encrypted network connections, password hashing, and bounded account-security checks. No online system can promise absolute security.

You can disconnect supported game services or delete imported platform data through available account controls. To request access, correction, or deletion of your account information, email accounts@playnextquest.com from your account email and specify the action you want. We may need to verify ownership before providing or deleting data. Do not send your password. Account deletion includes your saved account information, imports and community content in the active service; limited records may be retained where needed for security, legal obligations or backups. We will explain any applicable exception. Browser copies on your devices may need to be cleared separately.

Children and policy updates

Next Quest is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

This policy may change as the service develops. Material changes will be shown on this page with a new effective date. Questions can be sent to accounts@playnextquest.com.

Saved posts and edits

Posts you save on Feed are private to your account and included in your account export. Saving a post does not notify its author. Editing your post replaces its text and spoiler setting and displays an edited label.
